Vinted Members Express Frustration About Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with similar services.
It has advised users to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Modifications
Previously, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said.
Platform Context
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
